Judge McCaffrey served as the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division in Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties. He managed and settled complex civil matters including personal injury, professional malpractice, employment /labor disputes, products liability, consumer fraud, land use, real estate, contract, toxic torts, construction, corporate disputes, and insurance coverage.  He also served as the conflict Chancery Judge handling general equity and probate matters.

During Judge McCaffrey’s tenure on the bench, he served on several New Jersey Supreme Court Advisory Committees and was a presenter or panelist for ICLE, and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He also lectured at the New Jersey Judicial Orientation. Judge McCaffrey's average ranking in the last 3 judicial surveys conducted by the New Jersey Law Journal was in the top 10% of all trial judges in the State of New Jersey. 

Prior to serving on the bench, Judge McCaffrey received the designation of Certified Civil Trial Attorney from the New Jersey Supreme Court. He received an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell. He also served on the New Jersey District IV Ethics Committee.

Since founding McCaffrey ADR in 2017, Judge McCaffrey has mediated or arbitrated over 500 cases. He is available for in-person or virtual mediations or arbitrations.
